Ausschwitz And Snow
POSTED in: Daily Life

60 years ago the concentration camp in Ausschwitz was freed. More than 2 million people were killed there. Here in Austria we make school trips to the concentration camp in Mauthausen, and really, how our history teacher said, just a matter of time until Mc Donalds lands there. Commercialisation times three. You can land in prison for up to 10 years here, if you deny, play down, approve or justify what happened back then. You can imagine that Prince Harrys Nazi costume not only made the front page in England.

We almost literally had to dig out our vehicles today. And we are “down” in the city. It must be much worse for those “up” in the country.

Our neighbours are so weird. God knows why they hate us so much. I think its rather rude not to greet, so I do greet, but it feels odd when you greet and the other person turns away. Choices I guess.

Happy birthday dear Dodo!
