About wars, armys and alike.
POSTED in: Turtelina

We used to go camping around Europe, and when driving to France or England, we were bypassing these huge US Army Bases in Germany. Huge! They have their own schools, shops, hospitals etc. I was fascinated! There are shields on the motorway marking those areas. Amazing, really.

I was fascinated with the US Army ever since. About a year ago they brought a report about that elite military school on the East Coast I think. Can´t remember its name. Again fascinating.

I live in Austria. Family members fighted in WW2. I heard so many stories about it, I have a bunch of pics even, we have books, a towel, and clothes in our garage that are from a US Camp where one member of my family was held as a POW.

We learn so much about it in school, watch documentations, movies, go to the concentration camps etc. But still. War. Who knew what it really meant until now?

This is the first war that most of us are “experiencing” (for a lack of a better word) fully. This is so different from everything else. TV puts faces to Armys/people/reports.

I used to want to join the army here. I really don´t want to anymore.
