The Time Travelers Wife

Cover of bookI finished The Time Travelers Wife a couple of minutes ago. Captivating book. I like how the author makes “the impossible” real and believable. if I ever find a naked man on the streets somewhere, I will be convinced that it is a time traveler! As opposed to a homeless drunk person…

I love the ultimate ending, but I hate the “storyline” leading up to it. I like the dates and specific events Henry has to travel to, and relive. Some are boring and casual, but some are intriguing!

Quotes from the book that I like…

I feel guilty for wanting to avoid the sadness, dead people need us to rememer them, even if it eats us, even if all we can do is say “I am sorry”, until its as meaningless as air.

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my sould to keep,
If I should die before I wakw, I pray the Lord my sould to take.
~ p320

Sleep erases all differences: then and now; dead and living. I am past hunger, past vanity, past caring. This morning I caught sight of my face in the bathroom mirror. I am paperskinned, gauned, yellow, ring-eyed, hair matted. I look dead. I want nothing.
~ p501, Clare

I am going to read another book of the Three Investigator Series now.
