Neopets And Norton Internet Security
POSTED in: Neopets

Ok, after 2 years of playing Neopets, I have finally figured out, how to play Neopets with having Norton Internet Security enabled. This is how you fix it.

Norton 2002 Instructions:

Assuming you already added www.neopets.com to your trusted URLs. If not, do that now.

Double click on NIS. In the menu at the top, click on “Options” and click on “Personal Firewall”. Click on the “more option” button way at the bottom. On the left, activate “www.neopets.com”. Youll see, that “referer” (second button from the top) is blocked. Activate it, save your new settings, and enjoy playing Neopets from now on, knowing that you are safe.

Norton 2003 Instructions:

Doubleclick on the NIS symbol in the task try, go to options, and then Norton Internet Security.

Then you go to “web content”. I have the german version, so I dont know the exact wording, it should be the 4th thing on top from the left.

Add www.neopets.com to the allowed sites. One the left, scroll down to www.neopets.com and activate it, on the right, are again these options that you have to change. Change the very first setting at the top where it sais something like “information about your browser”. and click on allow. Do the same to the second option “information about visited sites” – allow.

Norton 2004 Instructions:

Bring up NIS 2004 and click on Status & Settings. Click on Ad Blocking. Click on Advanced. There is a list of web adresses on the left side of the screen. You want to add NeoPets to that. Click Add Site and key in www.neopets.com. Click OK. Now scroll the list down to the new neopets address and click on it. Then click the User Settings tab on the right. Change the settings to permit cookies and pop-up ads.

That should do it, but if you still have trouble, try changing the Global Settings tab to allow information about visited sites.

Finally, if you still have trouble, be sure that your browser is configured to allow cookies and pop-up ads.

(thank you “Dad” for submitting how to do it with NIS 2004!)

That should work.

And now, you may worship me. ➡ Silly, hehe. 😎

Plus: hooray! Finally got my Moachie attached to my petpetpet! How to do that: refresh inventory screen until it gets attached. It has to be the inventory screen, it wont work any other way. More worshiping please! 😛

Moachie!

Saw Mars again today, and somehow felt like in a Science Fiction movie, its just really really weird seeing another planet like this, is it not? I am going to look at it through a telescope during a night when I am done with work, should be cool! Its going to be visible for a couple of weeks to come.

Had a hillarious time with the lady at the post area of the hospital again, when we decided to auction her property. ROFL! Long story. You should have been there. 😛

Almost weekend, I have so much sleep to catch up on, after getting up at 3.50 am every day. Ungodly hour.

Will miss peeps at work when I am done. 😥

Thanks so much for the tip on making neopets work with Norton Internet Security! My son had to turn off the firewall to play this before. Now that I’ve configured NIS, it works great! Take care. Jim

You didn´t leave your email address, it´s hard to email someone without address. You have to follow the instructions, and it will work.

Thank you so much – I have been trying to figure out how to feed my “pet – a blumaroo” for days now (I had to wait till I got to work!)and then I decided to type into a search engine… ‘neopets + error + security settings’ and waalaa – you give me these fab instructions. Fantastic work! Note to all those having trouble – the wording is not exactly the same so just have a go – it’s not that hard and now I don’t get that stupid message “ooooops” go back blah blah security. Thank you who ever you are!

Security Settings for Norton Interent Security 2004

Bring up NIS 2004 and click on Status & Settings. Click on Ad Blocking. Click on Advanced. There is a list of web adresses on the left side of the screen. You want to add NeoPets to that. Click Add Site and key in http://www.neopets.com. Click OK. Now scroll the list down to the new neopets address and click on it. Then click the User Settings tab on the right. Change the settings to permit cookies and pop-up ads.

That should do it, but if you still have trouble, try changing the Global Settings tab to allow information about visited sites.

Finally, if you still have trouble, be sure that your browser is configured to allow cookies and pop-up ads.

i have a fix for using neopets with just NORTON personal FIREWALL 2004. click on OPTIONS->personal firewall->advanced options->add site and then just add http://www.neopets.com and check ‘use these rules for http://www.neopets.com‘ and then choose ‘permit’ for all of the options. Be sure to PERMIT and ALLOW everything on BOTH the privacy and active content tabs. That should do it. Good luck.

My version of NIS is the 2003 version and doesn’t have all the stuff you said to change. It has the personal Firewall application, but no ‘more options’ or ‘referers’ thing. Could you help me please, if you happen to know how to change the settings on NIS 2003 as well.
