dogs in heat O_o
POSTED in: Daily Life

Little Nikki is in heat. Not for the first time, but surely never as heavy as before, when you can put it like that. We dont want to get her fixed, for one because it costs lots of money, her hair would grow faster, and she would change in general. No way.

We have had lots of male dogs in our garden the last couple of times when Nikki was in heat, peeing all over, as male dogs do. *eek* But who knew what would happen this time…

We all woke up yesterday because a dog was whining infront of our house, immensly loud that was. The dog came and went all day, whining, crying, barking, whatever. Fine. Beyond me why people allow their dogs to run around wherever and whenever they want to. Thats forbidden, but who cares. O_o At around 10.00 pm he came again. Running around our house, and whining, very very loud. Have you ever heard a male dog whine? Very loud, let me tell you. I was worried, convinced that our neighbours would call to complain, even though it wasnt our fault, because dogs should not run around unleashed – forbidden. We all were hoping of course that the dog would leave again soon. Of course that didnt happen. At midnight he was still outside. Brother and me went out to make him leave. He left, only to come again when we went inside.

1.00 am: dog still outside. Me going outside with the broom. Scary! Standing in the dark, with a broom, expecting a huge dog running over me. *eek* Dog left, but came again a couple of minutes later.

3.30 am: me finishes playing the Sims, and going to bed. Dog still outside whining, none of us being able to sleep with that kind of noise infront the house. Of course I was still very worried that neighbours would call to complain. The noise was just immense. Nikki was sleeping, she was being the good girlie.

4.30 am: Yes, one of the rare days when I can fall asleep, but was awoken again by the sound of the door bell. Brother and Dad were up anyway. Dad went out, the police standing infront of the door. Of course a neighbour has reported us, again. Police asked some things, Dad told them to whom the dog belongs, they thanked him, they went around the house and left.

12.13 pm: until now no sight of the doggie, I hope that the owner of that dog is getting a punishment for not keeping a better eye on his dog, and for not caring what his dog does all day.

That was a nightmare.

Aww.. 🙁 It’s not the dog’s fault I guess (even though it was him keeping all of you and your neighbors awake), but that horrible owner of his 🙁 Honestly, some people should not be allowed to keep pets!!!
I hope you’ll have a better night sleep now..

Yeah, i totally agree with you two. It´s all the owners responsibility. That´s why I think that the owner should get a spanking.

You should get your doggie fixed, girl. It’s not as expensive as you think. Nowadays, they have all sorts of ways for paying for fixing your pets. As for Nikki changing in general, that is just a myth. The only way dogs do change is that they don’t have those aggressive tendencies anymore caused from their hormones. That would be a major plus! I myself have never heard of a dog’s hair growing faster because it was fixed. I don’t know. Just consider it if you don’t want those stupid male dogs sniffing around and peeing all over your yard when she’s in heat.

We have 3 females dogs and one male dog, so we kind of had to get them fixed. I didn’t think doing that would change them in any way; and we had them done when they were puppies anyway so we wouldn’t have noticed even if it did. Holly was the last one we had done, and she went on heat once before we could take her to the vets. Ahhhhh it was so annoying the way Ruskin (our male) reacted. He wouldn’t shut up, always howling – and for a chihuahua he made a hell of a lot of noise. And it was so messy too, ugh. I’m glad we haven’t had to deal with that since.

I hate it when people let their dogs run loose – especially when they’re big, dangerous dogs.

What a horribly annoying experience – I hope that dog doesn’t come back to bother you again! Or any others, for that matter.

comment: I just wanted to make a comment about what you said about how awful the owners of the male dog must be for letting their dog run loose. Just because the male dog shows up at your house, it does not mean it is because he is allowed to run loose. First of all, I agree with one of the other comments about it not even being very expensive these days to get a dog spayed….their are many ways of going about it that are cost affective. Secondly, it is a males dog natural instint to seek out a female dog that he smells their scent, informing them that she is in heat. Years ago, we had a male dog who was kept in a fence and he would literally jump over the fence to get out to the female. It was a very high fense, we were shocked to find out he could even get out as he never even tried before.
Right now, as of last night, our very small male (8 pounds) miniture dog was let out to go to the bathroom before he was to go to bed, as he is every night and although I was outside with him, he was gone…..quick. We have spent the day looking for him and can’t find him. I know he is at a female dog who is in heat. He spent two days literally just crying for no reason. NOw we understand why. We are heart broken and hoping and praying he returns soon. We spent our entire day looking for him! Because he is a very expensive dog. we are afraid someone will try to keep him, not to mention he is such a great pet.
I just wanted to share this with you to let you know, just because a male dog shows up when a female dog is in heat, it doesn’t not mean the owner is so awful. When he does get home, he will be neutered immediately. We were hoping to breed him once and then have him neutered but after this situation, we’d rather skip the breeding inorder to keep him here.
