I upgraded my gallery a few minutes ago. It does have a few nice new features. All in all I would say that you don´t need to upgrade if you are content with your current version. If you want to stay uptodate with gallery versions, then upgrade. It´s really easy, and goes rather fast. Don´t forget to backup your album and theme folder, especially if you made your own theme!
He shares some nice themes by the way!
One of the most obvious new features is a filmstrip for easier browsing through piccies. You can disable it if you don´t like it.

Hey Linda, I am sorry I can´t look right now, my gallery is totally messed up, only the template shows up, nothing else, and it will probably take a while until I have fixed it. You could always ask the peeps at the support board! Sorry Linda.
