I am working on a layout, weheeeeee! But I am encountering numerous problems. Da*n. Header is too big in size (100 kb). Background makes lots of troubles. It would be again only designed for 800 x 600. I really like it and want to put it up soon. But I am not sure that I can solve these problems. Bummer. I really want to keep the header, and I need the background, without it would look so boring. Ahhhhhhhhhh! SOS!
Have to practise guitar now and write a couple of Emails. Byeeeeee! 😀

Woah, I’ve used images that were more like 400kb in size. Or maybe it was 350kb. My last layout, the snes rpg one – the base image for that was huge. I don’t think 100kb would be much of a problem, and once it’s in people’s caches it’s even less of a problem. You could try saving it as a gif and jpg and see which is smaller, or try upping the compression if it’s a jpg… But I wouldn’t worry about 100kb. 400, yes. 🙂 100 should be fine.

Yeah, theres alotta optimization programs out there. One common one is using paint shop pro and saving it as an gif and it will auto optimize it if you save it in animation shop..

Have you tried slicing it up to really smalll bits? Could work I suppose. Good luck with the new layout Connie- can’t wait to see it!

you could download a version of PSP(paint shop pro) off of kazaa and use that to optimize ur bgd.
