Account hacked ?
POSTED in: Domain

Shocking news from the turtelina front! O_o Someone is sending masses of japanese porn via turtelina mail.

I have been getting masses of delivery failure messages the last couple of days. Didnt pay much attention to them, just thought it was spam, and deleated them. I didnt realize what those delivery failures meant, until yesterday. Of course they mean, that not someone is sending spam to me, but rather someone is sending them from an turtelina email adress, and because the adresses used dont exist, the messages that cant be delivered, are all returned to me.

I know that you can send mail over Telnet, and use whatever email addresses you want, and it will be delivered. But I dont think this is the case here. Had to inform my host right away, because this is a reason for my account to be terminated. *shock*

Sick people never fail to surprise me in their sickness.

Hi Connie, I highly doubt hostradius is not securing their SMTP (outgoing mail) server with an authentication algorithm like MD5! Returned mails normally are an indicator of such an authentication mechanism. You’re sparing yourself alot of problems by reporting the situation to hostradius, though!
Let me know if I can help out.
    Cheers, Pete

Oh no! That is totally cruel. Poor Connie. Someone must log into your account and send them. 🙁 I hope they stop soon

Eeek, that’s a nasty problem. Hope I read on to see it’s been resolved. 😉 I’ve noticed one or two emails that bounce from quarkfire.net and they look suspiciously like spam… but it’s only been around 2 or something, and I wouldn’t have taken much notice if I hadn’t read this post.
