The guitar concert last Saturday was amazing! The guitar quartett from here teamed up with the guitar quartett from Canada, and they played for about 90 minutes, 8 guitars, it was really brilliant. They are going to tour Canada in February. You should go and listen.
Other than that it was a buzy week! Worked all week, slept through all lectures at Uni, applied for a credit card, and ordered lovely wool at LittleKnits bagsale.
My Six Feet Under obsession is going a little overboard. I made my friend go to the opening day of our new crematorium today. We were the youngest by about 40 years. It was really interesting. We looked at the “stillborn grave”. Hunting. There were toys, and dummies… We then looked at the anonym urn gravesite. And then we went inside to look at the “refrigerator”, the ofens, the “chimneys”, they showed pictures of the remains of people. Implants are sent to Scandinavia to be recycled, pretty much the only thing that survives the “fire”.
Interesting was also the fact that there is no flame. The ofens are gas ofen, that heat up to about 800 – 1000 degrees Celsius, and the casket and body flame up by themselves. It then takes about 60 – 90 minutes and everything is over. 65 percent of all dead people in Salzburg, are cremated.
I didnt take many pictures, just some at the beginning.
Afterwards we went to a flea market, where I bought 2 books. This evening, we will go to see two “comedians”, Stermann und Grissemann.

The concert sounds great – I love ensemble music, especially intimate ensembles like duets/trios/quartets. I had a flute competition today, and came 2nd, yay! Flea markets are fantastic! Enjoy the comedians!

Das war unglaublich interessant Diana. Das hat 2 Stunden oder so gedauert. Ich hab gar nicht alles erzaehlt, das waer zu weitlaeufig… Interssant find ich auch das bei der Verbrennung Giftgase entstehen, die mussten urkompliziert Filter einbauen. Oder das Leute die aus dem Krankenhaus kommen, die voll viele Medis intus haben, es immer Probleme gibt mit der Prozedur, oder das die Asche in eine Lade kommt, und die dann nochmal nachbearbeitet wird. Wie die Sargnaegel mit Magneten entfernen usw. Oder das dass Krankenhaus die Totgeburten sammelt, und dann immer massenweise an den Friedhof liefert.
Makaber fand ich, dass unten beim Ofen, die Urnen tonnenweise auf Sprintern standen, noch in Kartonpapier eingewickelt. Oder das in der Schweiz Asche zu Diamanten verarbeitet wird, in Oesterreich verboten, aber in der Schweiz geht das!

Das kein Feuer brennt, wusste ich auch nicht, aber dass es giftige Emmissionen gibt und die Asche gesiebt wird etc. schon. Dass man hier daraus allerdings Diamanten macht, DAS hab ich ja noch nie gehört.
Passiert wohl, wenn die Asche keiner will?
Meine wird ja mal draussen verstreut werden (ich sollte das endlich schriftlich fest halten).
Toll finde ich, dass ihr eine Stelle für stillgeborene Kinder habt – DA happerts ja noch an vielen Orten und oft wird ein Begräbnis für solche Menschlein nach wie vor verweigert *kotz*
