Welcome to the 4th day of NaBloPoMo! Todays topic will be about my Spooky October and as we know, I love October and especially Halloween. If you follow me for a while you already know my festive wall, since last year I have also started to dedicate all of October to reading only spooky, ghostly and “thrillery” books, which has been so much fun! I am certain I read books that I wouldnt have read otherwise.

Being chronically ill does take a lot of quality of life: it is what it is. But I do everything I can to interfere with it taking too much from me, thats why I try to make myself happy as often as I can and my festive wall makes me always happy. 🙂 This year it was a bit of a mess, but we enjoyed it greatly anyway:

Some of the books that I have greatly enjoyed reading this and last year during my Spooky October were:

Dracula, a vampire novel. It was absolutely brilliant and I cant believe I havent read it before. I loved the use of diary entries to tell the story, I loved the writing stile and I really liked how he built the story. Changing the views of who told the story, was fantastic. Its just such a good book, so much better than any of the movies could ever be. Highly suggesting it to everyone who hasnt read it before. Go and read it right now!

As I had planned to read at least one classic every year in October, I also went for Frankenstein, which was just as fantastic as Dracula was. Both of the books are must reads! Frankenstein was so much different than I had imagined, I always thought Frankenstein was the monster, oh how wrong I was, embarassingly so. Again due to the time it was written in, absolutely brilliant writing stile and the story is heartbreaking. Who would have thought? I felt so much for the monster, much more than for Frankenstein himself, that is what good story telling does. Makes you feel pity the monster more than everyone else.

Those were the October Reading Highlights from the last 2 years. I loved October. As I always do. And now off to Christmas….
