Oh good God! I had a bit of a scare just now.
Just as I logged in to write a new blogpost, I find that all of my blogposts are gone.
Over 5000 posts just disappeared and I never backed up my Database in the recent or not so recent future. YIKES! Thank goodness an automatic repair of the database fixed it. Yikes yikes yikes! I am going a backup as soon as I am done writing! Backup your databases people, so important!
This post 4 / 30 will be a wrapup of the books that I read in October.
The first book that I read was Gone Girl. I know lots of people like it and I meant to read it since forever but only got a chance during REHA, where I wanted to read so much! Well, turned out I couldnt get into it and because I didnt want to pick it back up again, I didnt finish one single book in 5 weeks of being away! Lord!!!! I finished it at home though – because of my reading challenge over at Goodreads. I liked the plot twists Gillian Flynn “created”. Especially the one between part one and two, where we all think oh my he killed her! Until the second part started… that made me gasp. But that was already it. Amy and Nick are looners, we know that now but sadly we dont know all too much else about them. I gave the book 3 stars out of 5.
The second book that I read was Divergent by Veronica Roth. A YA book, which I try to stay away from because I am way passed them (I think). But after hearing so many good things about the trilogy, I picked the books up. The first book was a total rip off. So much of Hunger Games in there, a bit of Harry Potter and at one point I felt like I was in a Game Of Thrones for children. It did kept me glued to it and I couldnt understand why, because I dont think it is all too well written. But its written really fluently, very easy to read and the characters are intriguing. I gave the book 4 out of 5 stars and I was so mad because I had to wait for the second book to get to me after being done with Divergent.
So of course the third book of October just had to be Insurgent. And oh my God how much I loved this book! So so good. So much better than Divergent, with own ideas, very fast paced, I just couldnt put it away. I liked it so much! It was so exciting that I had to look up at a point and tell my brother that I cant take it anymore, so much excitement!
This I love in books and I cant even remember when I last had such a moment. I enjoyed it tremendously, except the ending, which I didnt get, but ok. Of course I had to give the book 5 out of 5 stars.
The last book which I finished in October was An Evil Mind by Chris Carter: Robert Hunter #6. After not liking the last book in the series, he finally decided to change the structure of his books. This one is completly different. This time, we know who the killer is very soon in the story, what we dont know is who the victims are. We also find out a lot more about Robert Hunter. I couldnt read it fast enough, it was so good! Absolutely excellent portraing of his characters, very interesting killer and all the side info that Chris Carter gives from his experience as forensic psychiatrist was brilliant! Abolutely loved it, didnt like the case all to much so I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
I also found a couple more booktubers that I like, plug: Jessie the Reader, Padfoot and Prongs and Peruse Project. Apart from the ones I already plugged: Abookutopipa, Well done books and Little Book Owl.
I am reading lots these days, I am sure I will make a wrapup for November as well. What were your favourite books of the ones you read recently?
