Yikes! Has it really been almost two months since my last entry? I am so sorry to everyone who is still checking in here. *massive huggles* I never meant to go into hiding for so long. I always meant to post, then postponed it to next weekend and here we are! 😕 I have no idea where the time has gone, as always I have been way too busy for my own good. Every free minute that I have, I try to get some sleep in, as I cant seem to find some rest during nights. My brain is always alert and telling me what I should be doing instead of sleeping. So annoying. 🙁
In any case, a little summary of what has happened since my last entry. If I can remember it all, I am so good in blocking things out. And of course, old age! I am adding a bunch of photos to make it a little bit more interesting!
The exams that were coming up in my last entry, I passed. I keep mentioning every single exam that I pass, because for me its always a miracle when I do pass. I seem to have lost the itsy tiny bit of ego that I had left, and I am really surprised if I manage to do anything. Not good. This will need some working on over the summer.
Remember that our sweet little bunny died one day before Easter? Since then two new little bunnies found their way to us and we are madly in love with them. The cutest couple ever! Even though the tinier one looks like a little Wallaby! They are not shy at all and I have taken a billion pictures of them it seems. Make sure you browse through my FlickR Stream from time to time. I am adding new photos all the time!
All series seem to have gone on summer break for now. I must say I think I liked the Ugly Betty season finale best of the shows that I watch. Though I cant seem to wait for the new House season to start, the spoilers that are popping up here and there are really promising! Of course, the last few weeks I have been into the Britains Got Talent hype. I loved all the finalists, Diversity really were brilliant but I really wanted Susan Boyle to win. Just because she is such a charming Lady and would have totally deserved it.
Nikki celebrated her 11th birthday on June 4th. I cannot believe it. It seems like yesterday that we brought her home and now it has been already 11 years. Insane. She is quite happy still, I think, and she is in a particular good mood since she got her hair cut again. She looks like a rat!
In the cinema I watched Illuminati, which wasnt so good. I just dont like Tom Hanks too much. I couldnt believe him the role that he was playing. Yesterday, we watched Terminator – The Salvation, which was utterly brilliant! Exciting from minute one. Cant wait for the next Terminator movie. 🙂
Its the last month of Uni *yay*, shouldnt be too stressful as I missed to sign up for all of my courses at the beginning of the semester due to being ill. Duh. I have a couple of papers to write, one more presentation and one exam. Not much really, this shall not be happening again. *makes note*
In the past week, we went on two excursions. One was to the local prison and the other one was to the Kriminalamt, there doesnt seem to be a proper translation for it. CIA is probably overdoing it a little.
The prison tour was quite interesting. Of course its a small prison, we are in Salzburg not New York (!) after all, about 180 prisoners, and the maximum stay is 18 months. Naturally, we had to leave our mobiles behind, so no photos, sorry. The cells are TINY and the inmates, men and some women, stay in there 23 hours a day. Unless they work. There is work for about 70 people. The guide, or rather police officer told us, that almost everything that is needed, is done by the prisoners. Like the cooking, washing, cleaning… They get 1,50 Euro / hour which they can spend in the prison store. They have a library, had me quite impressed really, I even spotted an “English Book” section! They can do fitness and of course there is a chapel inside. There are still lots of suicides in there, unfortunately, despite the suicide watch cells and the therapist that works there! Apparently, they get evaluated the minute they step into the prison, but it still happens anyway. So much to the prison tour.
On Monday of the week to follow this one, we will go to Stein. Which is the biggest and really only High Security Prison in Austria. I cannot wait! We will get to talk to the man in charge, then we will get a tour through the High Security ward, then we will visit the Forensic War, we will get to talk to some of the less dangerous inmates and so on. Everyone at work is so jelous that I get to go there! I really am lucky. Only 20 of us get to go there, due to bigger groups being a risk to security. This will be incredibly exciting and I will tell you about every single second of it! 😀
Our trip to the Kriminalamt was quite interesting too. Yes, they even did a group shot!

We talked to the people who are in charge of the sexual offense unit, like child pornography. Very, very interesting and of course incredibly sad. We talked to them for nearly two hours and it still wasnt enough! Afterward we went down to what they call “Tatort“. We saw how they check the meds that get in. How they find out if they are drugs and what kind and so on. Afterward we went to the “Crime Scene Investigation”. Really interesting as well, but you need lots and lots of patience for the job, poor guy. He told us some stories, and one was that when a black guy gets arrested here, he usually throws himself to the ground and shouts Nazi Schweine from the top of his lungs. Which usually makes the newspaper, under a total different headline of course. Not an easy job the police men and women have. They also showed us what the police dogs can do, which had me totally impressed. The goal of the dog is, to get to play with his plastic sausage! Or any other toy that they have, really. And for that toy, the dog does everything. The woman and man explained to us, that all they do is, is to take advantage of the play and hunt drove that every puppy has, and on that they build. Its really incredible what the dogs can do. It takes 14 months to get the dog to do the routine “police” stuff, and then every dog usually specializes on one subject. Like search dog. It was so impressing, I cant even tell you. We were all gasping for air! Once the dog hits 10 years, they get to retire. The dogs age quite fast we were told, due to the training and work they are doing.
Of course I am reading, 50 books and 25000 pages in 2009! I am way behind, surprise surprise. To keep up with what I am reading, add me on Goodreads!
I am also knitting and crocheting, to keep up with that, not only do check my FlickR Stream but also add me on Ravelry.
I have a concert coming up in exactly 2 weeks, work is insane and nerve wrecking as always and health wise I am not doing too hot either. No wonder. How should I ever heal when I dont have the time to settle down some. I have an appointement at the lung doctor again tomorrow. I wonder if that infection is gone. Hm. Not sure, as its still hurting where the lung is.
I am sure I forgot a lot, but I can always write another entry. Make sure to come back! And thank you for reading. ➡ Until soon!
